Need School Resource Officers in all 3 High Schools

Need School Resource Officers in all 3 High Schools

ACPD Community Advisory Group has made citizens aware of the various crime statistics in the county, and in particular the existing serious and growing gang violence, drug trafficking, shootings and other related violence these groups create. Since many gang members are juveniles, they bring their inter-gang crime activities with them into our schools 5 days per week.

If it concerns you that there is now ONLY ONE SRO in the County (at Albemarle High School) please plan to join others in letting the School Board know.  This is a non-partisan issue, as ALL parents and citizens care about the safety of kids during school hours.  The School Board is making decisions on budget now, and is expected to make recommendations to the Board of Supervisors in April.

Here are the three things you can do:

  1. (Now) Write all 7 school board members at once to schoolboard@k12albemarle.org .  You may write your own letter or use the attached sample letter, inserting your own name, etc in place of the parenthesis.

  1. Sign up for public comment at February 27th meeting during the period of 2/24-2/27 by calling 434-972-4055 or https://www.k12albemarle.org/school

  1. ATTEND SCHOOL BOARD MEETING on

Thursday, February 27th @ 6:30 PM  (Arrive @ 6PM)
