News from John Lowry ACRC Chair

The air is still in an exhale mode from lots of effort in this “off year” election cycle. I saw somewhere 49.xx% of active registered voters in Albemarle exercised their privilege this year. It felt like much more for all the work. We made new friends along the way.

In the spirit of the Season another vote is in: Many more members and friends can make the holiday party, Christmas buffet at First Free Coffee Bar on Saturday, December 16. For our crowd it is an Open House, come share food and cheer from 1 – 3 pm. If directions are needed just Google the shop name. If you are bringing a dish kindly message Nancy Koenig at nekoenig@reagan.com. If not Chili then a Christmas something.

Some new friends would like to be members of ACRC. I’d like to take five minutes on the 16th to come to order, approve Secretary minutes, vote on those who would like to join and then adjourn our formal meeting to January 6, 2024. Our January meeting will be at Northside library at 10:30 am Saturday morning.

Republican candidates are having another national debate tonight!

Early Voting in Virginia for the Republican Primary begins Friday January 19th. Besides Voting we will need Election Officials at the Early Voting Precinct on 5th Street. Our Election Integrity Committee is canvassing for volunteers now.

Training sessions for Election Officers are offered by Zoom.
When: Thursday, December 7th (will also meet next Thursday, December 14th and then break for the Christmas holiday).
Advance registration is required is attend REGISTER HERE
After registering, you’ll receive a confirmation email containing the necessary details to join the meeting.

We had a big crowd at the FFCB last month. There is plenty of counter space and seating for this holiday party. I am sending this notice to comply with seven days notice of a meeting however short!

All the best
